The implementation of the project is necessary due to the sinking of the roadway in weak landslide sections along Road II-55 ‘Veliko Tarnovo – Gurkovo’ (Republic Pass). From km 33+190 to km 33+289, 3 sections were reinforced with a total length of 276 meters.
In terms of location, the problematic areas are in a circular curve with a radius of R=67.60 m. The alignment is straight with a longitudinal slope of 5.0%, towards Veliko Tarnovo. Considering the requirement that the reinforcement should cause minimal disruption to the integrity of the road surface, the project requires the construction of structures founded with cast-in-place piles and connected with pile caps in the area of the shoulder.
