The execution of this contract is part of the rehabilitation project for Road III-822 Samokov – Zhivkovo – Ihtiman. Within the project, three weak sections near the roadway have been reinforced by constructing gabion systems.
Gabions are an effective solution for strengthening infrastructure, riverbanks, and landslides, as well as for building dikes and river corrections. They are self-draining elements, making them particularly suitable for erosion protection of riverbeds, steep slopes, and embankments. Due to their ability to absorb large amounts of energy and tolerate limited internal deformation, gabions reduce active soil pressure on retaining walls. Additionally, they allow vegetation growth, enabling them to integrate naturally into the environment and preserve the landscape’s natural appearance.
A total of 446 gabions, each measuring 100x100x100 cm, have been supplied and installed as part of the project to reinforce three weak sections along the “Samokov – Ihtiman” road;
